Straight shot up the east coast north of Hilo today. Storms and flash floods are a-coming but apparently not till later in the afternoon. Hot and humid start to the day though, making it a mandatory stop at the "What's Shakin'" roadside smoothie bar on the climb out of Hilo on the scenie (old highway) route. After that we pretty much pushed straight through to Honokaa, lots of down and up to cross bridges spanning spectacular gorges but ultimately more up as Honokaa sits up above 1000ft, well back from the coast and the tsunami zone. Rains like crazy on this coast and we are about to get a demonstration of that tonight.
